Chiron

Associated with the signs of Sagittarius and Virgo

The placing of Chiron in our horoscope, primarily indicates where we are likely to experience pain, suffering, setbacks or hard experiences, but where we can ultimately learn and grow as a person through the ensuing healing process. These painful or hard experiences force us to draw on our untapped inner resources and teach us things, providing spiritual / philosophical insights or healing abilities that can be used to help others. Chiron was a great teacher and mentor to the Greeks who taught warrior skills as well as the disciplines of healing and music to his students (opposing disciplines of wounding and healing). That is why Chiron is known as the wounded healer.

Chiron was abandoned by his mother at birth and so it's placing in the birth chart can also represent where we are sensitive to rejection or feel like an outsider with no sense of belonging. It shows where we may feel misunderstood, misrepresented or feel like we don't fit in.

In my experience, Chiron also shares some of the qualities associated with Neptune. It's placing will show where a person is sensitive, caring and compassionate and where there is a desire to help others, put their needs first or bring forth their talents. Chiron is therefore strongly associated with the caring professions, nursing, counseling, psychotherapy, care work, adoption, charity work, healing, complementary health, medicine, teaching and coaching.
